Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child support increase guidelines

Ex-wife wants to increase my child support. My income has increased; however, my current wife is unemployed and I am financially responsible for her two kids living with us (her ex does NOT pay child support). My ex now has good job and a new husband with a good job and they are finanically way better off than we are. Will the court take all this into consideration? I am already paying $740 / mo on three kids.

Re: Child support increase guidelines

No.

Your re-marriage is irrelevant.

Your ex-wife's income and her spouse's income are also irrelevant.

You knew you had these children to support when you married.

If your children are healthy (mentally and physically), you are looking at 30% of your net resources going to support the children plus health insurance coverage for them.

Net Resources is defined in the Texas Family Code. So is net monthly income.

I hope this information is helpful.
