Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child support issues
I have been divorced almost five years from my ex-husband. He and I have four children together. When we first divorced our children were divided equally between us. He had the two boys, and I had the two girls. Later our oldest daughter went to live with him. More recently I have been given custody of the two boys, and the second daughter. No child support has been ordered, and I need this support to raise these children. I am single still, he has remarried. He will not willingly help with support. What can I do with limited funds?

Re: Child support issues
You should hire an attorney to help you with you file a child support modification case. You should see if the Texas State Bar lawyer referral service can help you find an attorney. If you are located in a major county, then you may check with your county bar referral service. Travis County's referral service has a match program wherein clients who earn below a certain income can receive legal help at a much lower rate ($50/hour) but you have to qualify. See if your county bar has a similar program. But you should hire an attorney to help you with your case even if you have to borrow the money because in the end you should be able to get more money from your husband and it may be well-worth it.
