Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child support jurisdiction

WE were divorced in 2003 in Denton county TX. Child visitation and child custody jurisdiction is in Hanover County VA wher I live. Child support was to stay in TX because the father worked and lived there. He has now moved to CA so I want to know how to move child support jurisdiction to VA. Why should TX have jurisdiction whenever neither of us live there?

states involved, VA, TX, CA

Re: Child support jurisdiction

Are you sure that jurisdiction has been transferred to VA? Transferring a case is different than registering and enforcing a foreign decree. If VA allowed that process, then that court should also allow you to register and enforce the decree as to child support. Speak with a VA lawyer.
