Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

child support from overseas

My ex-husband is moving to the Middle East for 3-4 years and will be paid by a company from that country. How do I go about making sure I receive my child support and what kind of power of attorney should I obtain for making sole decision for my children during his absence?

You will need the full name of the employer and their mailing address. If the employer does not have an office in the US, I don't believe the courts will send a copy of the Employer's Withholding Order to them since they are outside the jurisidiction of the US court system.

You can do an agreed modification. This can be done quickly if your spouse agrees to sign everything. There is no waiting period on a modification.

If you live in the Houston are, you can give me a call at 713-847-6000.

Good luck!
