Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child support

I receive child support for my 18yo daughter, who is still in school, and she moved in with her father. Should I keep depositing the child support checks? Isnt it the fathers responsibility to get the orders reversed? And can I get in any trouble?

Re: Child support

The child support will stop automatically once the child is out of school. If he has the child he would have to file a motion to modify since you would be owing him some child support.

Re: Child support

It's his obligation to get the Order changed, but he may not be doing anything because, assuming she is graduating in May, he feels he would spend more money trying to get his support obligation stopped and yours started than he'll pay in support until then. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be supporting your daughter, even if there is no Order, nor does it make it right for you to be keeping the money he is paying you for the support of that same daughter.
