Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I don't want child support
I recently had a child. I chose to not tell any one the father's name due to a protective order against him in effect until next Christmas. He knew I was pregnant. I am now receiving mail from the Attorney General stating to fill out information about my child and myself. I had a child with the father previously that passed away. The first letter stated the father's name, and told me to fill out the papers for the child/ren of the father. I filled them out for the deceased child, and stated he was deceased. I just received another letter with my present son's name in it, telling me to fill out the same forms for him. I have told everyone the father is unknown. Do I have to fill these paper's out? If he wants a paternity test, shouldn't it be court ordered? I am not wanting his help or not volunteering a paternity test. I see no reason to fill out the forms for him because the father of this child is unknown. Please help.

Re: I don't want child support
If you are particpating in Medicaid for the child or other state benefits, the AG wants the father's name so they can go after him for reimbursement. If you don't identify the father, your Medicaid and other benefits will be terminated.
