Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
child support
I recently got divorced and it was final july 3 rd 2008. I had to start paying child support for my non biological daughter august 1 2008. My question is : I have an 11 year old son whom I already pay child support for in the sum of 400$ a month and the jugde is making me pay 445 a month for my daughter. That's 845 a month! I gross about 33,000-34,500 a year. I thought they could only take out 25% ? Thats alot for then 25%. I have to pay 560$ a month for insurance plus I just remarried and I have an 8 month old son too. Is the amount too high? I think it is . if it is then what can I do to lower it? I already told the judge when I was tehre that that wasn't fair.. I am left with less then 1000$ a Month to support my wife and baby...please help

Re: child support
I assume that you had legal representation. That attorney should have showed you how your child support was determined.
If you did not have an attorney, you should have since you do not understand Texas family law.
The first child with the first mother receives approv. 20%.
The second child with the second mother receives approx. 18%.
If both children were with the same mother, then you are looking at 25% of your net income (as determined by the Texas Legislature).
You knew that you had 2 other children when you conceived your 3rd child.
Your new wife knew that you had other children to support when she married you and got pregnant.
It sounds like your wife is going to have to go to work to help support your family.
