Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Support

I recently was out of a job for nearly 8 months and was behind in child support. i was suppose to pay 200 a month. I currently have had a job for 3 months and been paying my support but i just recieved Motion to enforce child support payment. I dont have the money right now to hire an attorney but i know I can get caught up in child support with 5 pay checks. My court date is on the 15th of Jan. how can i put this on hold for about 2 months? so i can get caught up and not go to jail?

Re: Child Support

In really simple terms, you're probably not going to get it reset, but if you are already catching up you probably won't go to jail if this is your first enforcement. If you would like to discuss your situation and options in more detail, feel free to call my office. I can often handle matters like this on a flat fee basis.

Re: Child Support

From the facts which you have related, you probably do not need to worry about being put in jail if this is the first time that an enforcement action has been filed. However, you would be well advised to have an attorney go to Court with you. If you would like to discuss your options more, please contact me dircetly.
