Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Support Requirements

I have a very mean ex-wife that is the primary custody parent and is threatning me to pay for my child's braces at a cost of 5,500 dollars or she will file an enforcement order if I don't pay. Can she do this? Does this fall under me paying for medical coverage?

Re: Child Support Requirements

I'm not sure getting braces for your child is being mean to you, but you will probably have to pay your share or she will have grounds to take you back to court on an enforcement. Most of the time the court will rule that braces are a covered expenses and you are obligated to pay. Talk to the dentist and see if you can set up a payment plan. You should have the option of paying the dentist directly rather than repaying your ex.
