Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child support

My son went to Afghanistan with the army for a year when he came back his wife and him separated. He has been paying her monthly for child support but he did get a $15,000 reenlistment bonus. When they went to the child support mediation the Attorney told him she was entitled to half of that money. I dont understand this since it is for the next six years of his life. If he does not fulfill the six years he could have to pay some of that money back. They told him was considered back child support and he would be charged inerest on it. My son left his home with nothing he gave it all to her. When he realized he did not even take his winter coats he called her and she told him he she sold everything. He wasnt entitled to any of that money? If he gets an attorney will he be able to fight the child support offices decision?

Re: Child support

Yes. He needs an attorney to more fairly address the child support and property issues. The military definition of the bonus is critical to the assessment of the bonus.
