Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child Support
My son has lived with me since he was 4 he is 13 now.My ex has had custody through the court when we first divorced so I paid my child support like I was supposed to.I tried to do a modification but am unsure if it was done correctly. I have not had any support from her and I want to know what my chances are of getting support now.

Re: Child Support
If you are trying to do this yourself and you're not sure it's done correctly and you're not a lawyer - then it's probably not right. Now you're losing out on past child support that you should have for your child. Why not get a lawyer and get the money that you're supposed to have?
Re: Child Support
You have a good chance of being awarded child support if your modification was done correctly, or alternatively if it wasn't, if you can get the modification done correctly now.
You should have received an order from the court after you filed the petition to modify custody. Read the order and see if there is a provision for child support. If you didn't get an order, the court may not have acted on your petition due to a filing deficiency.
Don't feel bad; modifications are a little tricky for a lay person to do without help. This sounds like a situation that can be straitened out. If you are anywhere near Grapevine, I do free consultations on family law matters.
