Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

child support & spousal support

I am fixing to file for divorce. What is the maximum % you can receive for child support. I have a 15 year old and an 18 year old. I know I cannot get child support for the 18 year old. Can I receive spousal support if my husband agrees to give it to me even though I have a job.

Re: child support & spousal support

If the 18 year old is still in school, you can get c.s. until that kid graduates.

Of course, you'd get child support even though you work.

You need to talk to an attorney regarding specifics. For example, if one kid is disabled, you can get child support for the rest of the kid's life.

For one kid it would be 20% depending on whether or not he has other kids. For 2 it would be 25% again depending on if he has other kids.

Of course, he would also be required to provide healh insurance for the minor children and pay 50% of uninsured medical.
