If you give up your rights to your child; do you still have to pay child support?

Re: Child Support--Giving up your rights

If your rights are terminated by court order (not just if you

say you want to give up your rights - the court order must be

done!), you do not owe child support for the time period after

the termination because you are no longer that child's parent.

However, you will still owe any arrearage or other child support

amounts that accumulated prior to the date of the court order. I

hope this helps.
