Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Support/Rights

How do you give up rights on a child after it's born? If you had a one night stand and she's says she's pregnant, you really don't know if it's yours until it's born? I don't want anything to do with her or the baby. She has two other children from two separate fathers and said she was on the pill. It was a terrible mistake and she isn't a fit mother! Will I have to pay child support if in fact it's mine although I want to give up all rights?

Re: Child Support/Rights

You play, you pay. Sounds like you knew her reputation and rode bareback anyway.

Texas has this quaint notion that all children are entitled to be supported by both parents. No Judge is going to let you shrike your responsibility to support your child just because it was all a terrible mistake. Instead of focusing on yourself, consider the innocent child you're trying to abandon. If she's an unfit mother, go for custody.
