Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child Visitation
I have suffered from the disease of addiction for the past 13 years. During that time my girl friend and I had a child. Due to my disease my GF left with my daughter and won't let me have any contact. My daughter is 5 and during the past five years I have tried to pay child support but she won't let me know where she is and when I have talked to her she said she didn't want the money. I have been clean for the past 1 1/2 years and want to contribute to my daughters life. My mother still has contact with my GF, and found out that she recently married and doesn't want my daughter to know who I am. She wants her to believe her current husband is her daughters father. Do I have any rights as far as visitation? Where can I go to get help.

Yes, you have rights. The child also has a right to know her biological father.
I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

Re: Child Visitation
Consult a family law attorney in your area immediately. As long as you are prepared to acknowledge paternity and pay child support, you have a shot at visitation, etc. But, you will have to take her to court. The biggest problem will be finding her to serve her. But it can be done.
