Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child visiting non-custodial parent out of state

I plan on letting my 9 year old son visit his terminally ill mother in California for Christmas & New Year's, however, they have a history of intentionally causing him to miss his flight back to Texas. His mother has also taken hi in the past with intentions on kidnapping. I'm extremely hesitant about letting him go in fear that he won't come back. He will be flying alone. Is there anything I can do to avoid such potential problems?

If you had started 6 months ago, you might have been able to require a cash bond for the visit to the mother - particularly for the record you describe. But to get something done in a week is really ambitious. You started thinging about this too late. The child probably won't come back and then the money starts flowing. Good Luck.

Either don't send him or go with him.

It's too late to do anything now.

James is absolutely correct in the Houston area, you need to plan at least 3 months in advance!

Even an emergency hearing, will take 2-3 weeks to get heard in Harris County, Texas!
