Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have children and their grandmother from there fathers side is seeking visitation with them. She has led a very chaotic life including spending years in jail for a felony or felonies including drug possession, bounced checks, and being involved in manufacturing meth while she was caring for her mentally handicapped son from her third marriage. She is not a good influence in my children's lives, and is not the kind of person I want them to grow up around. She did not have custody of my ex husband when he was a child because of her lifestyle. Does an ex felon grandparent have visitation rights in Texas? What can I do to stop this drama and keep my kids out of it?

Unless the kids lived with her for at least 6 months, she probably has no basis whatsoever to get any visitation rights. Grandparent rights in Texas are almost nonexistent and it doesn't sound like what limited rights there are would apply to her situation.

If she wants to sue, tell her to bring it on and set it for trial. You probably have a very good case.

Good luck!!
