Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My children and I live in Oklahoma, my children were born here. During my marriage my husband moved to the Dallas area for work and we ended up separating. I was a stay at home mom living in the home we owned in Oklahoma. I believed we settled everything amicably, he paid to have papers drawn up for divorce. I signed them and he filed them. I didn't even have to drive to Texas for the divorce. Now 8 years later he has filed to modify the parent child relationship, in Dallas. I had to drive 5 hours one way to attend a hearing. I am told that this is a jurisdiction issue. How do I contest jurisdiction myself? I was approved for legal aide but they said they don't have the staff to help me and I don't have the resources to hire an out of state attorney.

File a motion for the court to decline jurisdiction and abate proceedings pending the filing of a child custody case in OK. Ask the legal aid people if they'll at least help you draft the paperwork.
