Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Can my children's stepmother do this?
My children's stepmother has informed the dentist that my kids have always used that SHE plans to take my kids to a new dentist and that if I should try to take my kids to their current dentist that they are not authorized to file on their insurance (which is provided by their father thru his wife's employer's insurance). I told the dentist that the children's stepmother doesn't take my kids ANYWHERE (let alone the dentist) and that I make the medical and dental decisions for my children, but now my children's dentist is wanting their payment in full at the time of treatment instead of filing the children's insurance for us as they usually do.(The children's dentist is on her plan). What can I do to allow my kids to continue to see the same dentist that they've always seen? What if their stepmother does try to take them to another dentist without my consent when they have their holiday visitation with their dad? If she does this, then what will I do about the kids January cleanings with their current dentist? Please help -- I don't want the stepmother to manipulate things so that she decides who will provide medical/dental treatment for my children.

If the divorce decree doesn't allow the father to make dental decisions, you would have the exclusive right to make those decisions. If the stepmother is making threats about dental coverage, you could seek a temporary restraining order to prevent her and a motion for enforcement of the order.
You could then show this to your dentist to show him that you are very serious about him continuing with the children's care.
