Civil suit against spouse after divorce
My husband had a stroke 8 wks after i moved out and filed for divorce. he had no medical insurance. the divorce has been going on for 15 months - only hold up is him refinancing the home out of my name. he is telling me that once the divorce is final he has hired a law firm to file suit against me in civil court for half of his 450k medical bills - says he will see to it that i get a judgement against me so i cant buy a home or anything.
my question is, can this be done? if so can he win a judgement against me? i am doing good as it is to support myself and our daughter. our temporary papers state that we were each responsible for our own expenses incurred after filing date. his stroke and expenses happened 8 wks after i filed. please advise soon - he says if he is forced to sell our home that this is what he going to do - and i just found out that he cant refinance the house - only option is to sell!!

If you don't have a lawyer, this would be a good time to get one. Sounds like your ex is still affected by the stroke. It's very unlikely that you are going to be responsible for his medical bills. Why don't you get a lawyer so you can get some peace?
