Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Who clames the child on there taxes?
When parents have joint custody of the children who clames them on there taxes? My ex was trying to tell me we each have to clame thim everyother year. I thought the custodial parent clames them unless they sign the rights over to the non-custodial parent. He also told me after I filed my taxes that he already clamed him without leting me know. Could he get in trouble for it? Will someone please help me?

Re: Who clames the child on there taxes?
There are specific rules by the IRS in order to meet the requirements to claim the child for tax purposes. They have those rules posted on their website. Good luck to you, and may God bless you.
