Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Collecting out-of-state past due child support
I am a resident of Georgia. There is an order for child support in Georgia. The non-custodial parent lives and works in Texas. The Texas based company is not registered to do business in Georgia. How can I collect past due child support and medical payments from the non-custodial parent in Texas?

Re: Collecting out-of-state past due child support
You would file a copy of your Georgia decree in Texas, where it then becomes a Texas judgment. A wage withholding order then could issue to the company to withhold child support. You also could garnish bank accounts, force the sale of property by filing a child support lien, cite that parent for contempt, suspend a driver's license, and so on. There are many remedies to collect past due support in Texas.
