Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Common Law Marriage
me and my boyfriend have been living together for 7 years. We now have 2 kids together. His mother passed away 3 years ago and left him life insurance money. He signed the money to his dad so that his dad could go ahead and get his siblings money to take care of them. His dad wrote a check to me to deposit in me and my boyfriends joint checking account. We now have a house in both of our names and we are separating because he cheated. We also signed a paper at our local auto and home insurance company saying we plan to marry so that I could put him on my auto insurance. Do I have to divorce now and what exactly am I entitled to?

Re: Common Law Marriage
Sounds like you might be common law married. Talk to a lawyer in your area. This subject is technical. Certainly, you should get child support for the children. good luck.
