Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
common law seperation
My son's father and I just split up. What kind of legal action do I need to take? Do we need a legal seperation? and if so, how would I go about doing that? I have drawn up paperwork saying we were seperated and my son's father gets visitation and got them notarized. Does that help anything? Just really need to know where to turn to and what exactly i need to do.
Thanks,
Sara

Re: common law seperation
Based on what you have written and dependent on whether you qualify as common law married, you should consider potentially filing for a divorce. At a minimum, you should consider filing for a suit affecting parent child relationship (SAPCR) so as to get a court order for child custody, visitation, and support.
