Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

a conflict of interest?

My daughter recently was divorced..the lawyer who represented her hired her ex husband to do work on her house. This lawyer called the ex spouse almost every morning to remind him to come to work. Just 2 weeks ago my daughter called this lawyer with some questions regarding her divorce and child custody. This lawyer did not have the common courtesy to return her call...she had her secretary call her and told my daughter that she was not representing her any more..after the fact of telling her that she would help her . Isnt this very wrong?????

You can always file a complaint with the Texas State Bar Association; they're on the web.

Once a legal proceeding is concluded the attorney owes your daughter nothing except the duty of confidentiality. I don't believe hiring the opposing party to do work unrelated to the object of the litigation is in any way a conflict. I've heard many family law attorneys complain that it seems their former clients "never go away." Attorney-client relationships do come to an end.
