Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

conflict of interest & divorce/custody

I was previously employed part time contract work, my mother was previously employed and both my (x) and I hired the firm to defend against minor traffic violations. If my (x) hires a woman attorney to file divorce on me and THEN that woman attorney joins with said former employer & joint attorney, is this considered conflict of interest?

Re: conflict of interest & divorce/custody

Your description of the situation is hard to follow, but it sounds like there is a conflict of interest since you employed your soon to be ex's attorney's new firm for a previous case. However, given the type of representation you previously received through this firm, there are probably ways for her to be isolated from knowledge and continue to represent your soon to be ex. Situations like this must be reviewed by the Texas Bar Association on a case by case basis.
