Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
What constitutes community property?
My wife and I have just seperated, and seeking divorce. We've only been married six months . She did not work at all during the marriage. I own a small company, which I have owned since 1993, and she has NEVER been a part of that business arrangement. Also, a week before we got married, I purchased 2 new automobiles. They are in my name strictly. Is she entitled to a) a portion of my income from when we were married, and b) does she have a right to ownership of one of the vehicles?

Re: What constitutes community property?
Questions like this are always tricky, but on these facts, she probably would not have a claim to anything in your business except 6 months worth of any IRA or retirement funds. As for the cars, she might claim one of them was a gift that you bought for her in anticipation of the marriage. Do you usually buy multiple cars for your business? A judge will look at the circumstantial evidence and decide.
