Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I was contacted by a former girlfriend who says that we have a seven year old daughter. I have not taken a paternity test. What are my options, and my rights should it be determined that the child is mine?

If a court determines that the child is yours, you can ask for custody.
If you're not interested in going for custody, then you'll be paying child support for the next 11 years AND you'll be hit with retroactive child support (probably going back four years). And you'll be given court-ordered visitation.
