Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Contempt Charges
I a custodial parent ordered to received child support and medical insurance from ex-wife. Since the order I have received 4 partial payments of child support and she has failed to obtain medical insurance or reimburse me for expenses I have paid. I have been given the run around with OAG because she lives in another state (NC). I also feel that because I am a male receiving support and not the one ordered to provide that I am given a harder time. Can't I just file contempt charges on her myself? Or should I wait for the State?
And she refuses to give me her address.we are both ordered to provide each other with our current physical addresses. I am tired of sending mail to her mother's address and will not do it any longer. Also she leaves tons of messages utilizing inappropriate language because she hasn't spoken to our son. There is nothing in the order about phone calls. And when she does talk to him she is always asking what am I doing and then telling him that I don't want him to see her and won't let him visit. My son realizes the lies and says that he does not want to talk. Am I in any violation? She threatens that I won't have custody much longer but wouldn't she have to prove a big change in circumstance?

Re: Contempt Charges
I recommend that you retain a private attorney and go after her.
If you are not receiving public assistance, the Texas A G's office is not too motivated to move you to the top of the list.
A private attorney will ask her to be ordered to pay some of your attorney's fees. Of course, the final order is up to the Judge.
