Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Contempt of Court- Visitation

Can I go to the court house and file an contempt of court because I am not able to see my children.

If so what information will I need before going to the court house?

I can not afford an attorney but what about my rights?

If you cannot afford an attorney, you have the right to go to the court house and study in the law library to see how to file a motion for contempt. No one in the court or the clerk's office can help you because they are not attorneys and the judge's job is to make decisions (hah!). The librarian will show you some books or sources that you study. Good Luck.

You can go to any law library and look in the book - TEXAS FAMILY PRACTICE MANUAL- for forms most family law attorneys use.

You might also check around for attorneys that take payment plans.

On contempt, many courts will order the person held in contempt to pay all or part of your filing fees and attorney fees.

You might call Patricia Bushman at [email protected] or [email protected] for a price quote. Be sure to let Arlene (office manager) know that FRAN sent you!
