Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

How to contest a divorce?

My wife has filed for divorce, a divorce I do not want this divorce. I would like to contest the divorce. How and what do I need to do to contest it? I am not contesting it on any financial terms I am contesting it on the basis of her claim and the fact that I love her and want this marriage to work. How do I contest it, can I just type up a letter stating that I want to contest it or what?

Thanks

Rt

Re: How to contest a divorce?

You need to file a document called "an answer" with the court. This document lets the court know that you are interested in the case and that you want to be notified of what is happening. If you do not file an answer and you were served, she can get a default divorce without any further notice to you.

Please be advised that your wife will eventually obtain a divorce in Texas. A person cannot be required to be married to someone that they do not want to be married to.

Best of luck.
