Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Contesting my attorney

My attorney just filed a withdrawal of counsel. The judge granted her order. I was not aware of the court date.

What do I need to file to contest this withdrawal of counsel. My final trial (after awaiting a year and a half) is set for May 24th.

Re: Contesting my attorney

You can file a Motion to Set Aside the Order of Withdrawal. It needs to be properly noticed to all the parties, and there will be a hearing.

I must caution you, that this could be a waste of valuable time, if you are set for trial in three/four weeks. You might rather spend this time, money and energy on trying to get another lawyer involved in the case.

If the withdrawal was based on lack of payment, your best bet would be to contact your former attorney, PAY her, and ask her to take your case back on.
