Contesting Divorce - need help!!

Question - If my husband files for divorce and lives in the same state but another city, and I contest the divorce, will I have to travel to his city to go to court or can I just go to court where I live?

A divorce suit can be filed in the county where the husband has lived for 90 days or more or where the wife has lived for 90 days or more. If he has met the residence requirement in the county where he has filed the suit, you can ask that the court move it to the county where you live but the judge is unlikely to do so unless there are children involved and most of the people who can testify about the children are in your area.

Under any circumstances, you need to file your first pleadings in the court where the case is pending.

I suggest you hire a lawyer to assist you.
