Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

contesting the terms of a petition of divorce

How do you go about replying to an original petition of divorce with a child involved? Basically how do I file an answer to the petition stating I do not agree with the terms? I am not contesting the divorce itself, but rather the requests. Is there a form that can assist you with writing the response and what information to put in the letter?

You need to file a document called an "Answer" as soon as possible.

If you were served the papers by a sheriff, constable, private process server, etc. you will read on the papers that you have 20 days the Monday next to file your answer. If it is not received by the court by that date, then the opposing party can get a "default" divorce from you.

I urge you to move quickly on this matter.

I don't know where you would find a form called an "Answer". You might check with website.

If your case is in Harris or a contiguous county, give me a call.

I charge $500 down for a divorce with no temp. orders or $900 with temporary orders. After the deposit, you make weekly payments to my office.

If you overpay me, I give you a refund at the end.

Fran is correct. I would further say that the way to reply to a petition for divorce is to hire an attorney. My office is between Fort Worth and Dallas and I will work in either county.
