Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Co-signed for Auto Loan

Ex girlfriend and I bought a car together before we split. She was borrower I was co-signer. We have parted ways. She will not pay payments now and I have made 2 payments. She has possession of the car and refuses to sign anything associated with selling this car. She wants the car to be repossessed to go against my credit. She is not concerned about her credit which is why she needed a co-signer in the first place. Please help with options?

Re: Co-signed for Auto Loan

This isn't really a family law question, but if you want to save your credit you pay for the car. If the car gets repossessed as the co-signer you may still be on the hook for thousands of dollars in "deficiencies". This is why you should never co-sign for anything you're not willing to buy as a gift for the other signatory.
