Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Hello,

I went to court on July 28, 2009 for a SAPCR. The judge ordered supervised visitation with a counselor. They are now making me schedule visitation when the paperwork has yet to be filed. My question is why if there is no order filed do I have to do visitation. How long should it take to recieve paperwork from a court hearing?

Thank you!

A court order (an oral pronouncement by a judge) is not enforceable by contempt until it is reduced to writing and signed by the Judge. This means that there can be a "gap" between the hearing and the entry of the written order when you're in a kind of limbo.

The "gap" can last for days or even weeks, depending on how lazy the lawyer is (the one who has the duty to draft the order and submit it to the judge).
