What is the process for acquiring a court order for child support in the state of Texas, and how long would it approx. take...?

Depending on the relationship between the parents, maried, divorced, never married; whether previous court orders are in place all determine the route to be taken. As for time, anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on the specific circumstances.

If you never had court-ordered child support, you file a Suit Affecting Parent-Child Relationship. Completing this process could take several months, depending on its complexity.If you do have court-ordered child support, you file a Motion for Enforcement. You can get a hearing within 2-3 weeks.
