Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Court ordered judgement

I recently had a child support judgement of $7,000 against me in family court. I was not working during that time and was raising my disabled son. Can I get the judge to reduce the judgement amount?

Re: Court ordered judgement

Depends on how recently. If it's within 30 days you could ask for a rehearing. or you could appeal to a higher court. Bad thing is - it would take about $7,000 to do either. Sorry for your situation. Good Luck.

Once an arrearage has been reduced to judgment and the appeal period has passed, there isn't much you can do but pay it. The time to have fought it was before it became a judgment.
