Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

cps and Attorney

In 2005 my daughter had a case closed with cps. We hired and attorney for 700 dollars. When my daughter inrolled her daughter in kindergarden which is a christian school. My daughter applied to be on PTA and the school ran a check on her and the case showed up in the data base and was wrong what was said. My daughter ask the attorney would he get a copy of the closed case to give to the school. He said we still owed him 200 dollars and he would not help her. My question is can another attorney get this for us at the court house because it is sealed and we can not ge it.Also we had 45 days after the case was closed to appeal this to stop it from showing up and did not know this. We ask the attorney about this and he said he did not know anything. Sure need some help on this matter.

Re: cps and Attorney

Your attorney apparently did a good job, to get the case dismissed. His/her obligation ended at the conclusion of the case. The fee of $200 to seal a civil case is very reasonable. The CPS case should be a civil case, and your daughter may want to question the PTA and/or the school to inquire on what basis she is barred -- since the record clearly reflects that it is civil, and it is closed. That action is what is disturbing to me.
