Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Curfew Law

I was driving a 16 year old teen to her house when some police officers blocking the middle of the road way stopped us and said that she was out past curfew and that she would have to get a ticket. This doesn't seem to sit right since the choices were I let her stay over night or I take her home and get her a curfew ticket. Could someone please tell me how the curfew works so I could get a better understanding of the situation?

Re: Curfew Law

Curfew is enforceable. The alternate choice was that she be home before the curfew. The curfew law is generally legal, and requires that a minor be at home, or in the company of parents or guardian, or participating in an excepted activity.
