Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My current husband wants to adopt my children. I am not sure where my children's father is to serve him papers for him to release his parental rights. He owes me $50,000 in back child support. What do I do. I dont have the money for an attorney. Can we do this on our own?

What you need to do requires 2 lawsuits - termination of parental rights & a step-parent adoption.

I've written about it on my blog - www.txfamilylaw4u.blogspot.com.

Many other TX attorneys have also written about this topics. You can "google" and out it and read about it.

I doubt that you can do this on your own. It is complex and difficult to do.

There are pro bono (free) legal services throughout Texas for people that qualify. However, there is a long waiting list. You can go to the State Bar of Texas and find one in your area.

Good luck!
