Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am custodial parent. i live in texas, looking to relocate in mississippi. per mine and my ex's divorce papers it does not say anything about contingent counties. it states specifically any geographical location. we are going to court on within the next few weeks as he has failed to pay child support, as per the court orders. my question is if i move to mississippi will it be ok and can i get everything moved to mississippi, since i am custodial parent?? thank you for your help.

If you have no geographic restriction in your decree, then you should be able to move. Know that the second you move, he may go back to court and ask the court to modify the order to include a restriction. The court's policy is to foster a relationship with both parents, so he might get it; even though you have already moved. You might decide to address the issue before moving. There are always exceptions, but normally, you can register a foreign order and enforce it in a new state. It is harder to modify it in the new state.
You should not attempt any of these permanent plans, without at least first consulting with an attorney in your county.
