Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am the custodial parent of my son who is 9 years old; his mother has not paid child support and is now on SSD or SSI not sure which one. I was told by the attorney general that they cant pursue her anymore because its a whole new ball game. Whats this ball game and why cant they peruse her, and she just gets off like that. The Attorney General told me to ask a lawyer for more help. Can you give me more advice, can you help?

PS: is there any service that would offer free legal assistance to low income families

Thank You

The child should get some money based on her disability.

You might try Lone Star Legal or Houston Volunteer Lawyers (713-228-0732) for free legal assistance. Also, South Texas College of Law Legal Clinic might help. The 3 law schools in the Houston area all offer some free legal services to Harris County residents. However, they only offer "basic" cases since students do the cases and the cases much be quick and easy.

DO NOT CALL 411 AND ASK FOR "LEGAL AIDE". IT'S A FOR-PROFIT COMPANY OUT OF STATE THAT CHARGES MONEY AND THEIR FORMS DO NOT WORK!! IT IS A SCAM! There is no such thing as legal aide!!!!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE TX A G WON'T HELP, BUT THEY ARE OVERWHELMED AND UNDERSTAFFED.

I'm not taking pro-bono cases at this time. I recently added up my pro bono hours for 2009-2010 and in less than one year, I've donated over $40,000 in pro bono legal services with my legal free cases with Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program. I think HVLP has worn out a bunch of their "regular" volunteer attorneys. Quite frankly, I'm pro bono'd out!
