Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
custody of adult child
I have a sister who is mentally retarded that lives with our mother. My mother has legal custody of her because she can not take care of herself and she can not read or write. I would like to know what papers I need to get my mother to fill out that would give me legal custody of my sister should anything happen to our mother. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: custody of adult child
Your mother can entrust the care of your sister to you through a will. Remember that a will is a worthless piece of paper unless it is properly probated through the probate court. This costs a little money. In order to have a valid will to assure the future care of your sister, I suggest you see a lawyer.
