Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Custody Modifications

Original custody agreement was joint custody with ex having the right to establish residence in Ft Bend or Harris Co, Tx. I pay child support for 2 children (wages garnished). One child has now been living with me for 2 months. Ex is in the process of moving out of state and 2nd child will also be moving in with me. We went to a lawyer (ex's) in mid-Jan. and a motion to modify was filed. The order that I signed stated that all support changes were to take effect. Feb 1. This order has not been taken to the judge and ex is not paying support and also is keeping the support checks that my employer can not stop without an order. Ex's lawyer will not return my calls. I'm not sure if I need to hire a lawyer of my own or take this to the Attorney General's office. As you can imagine my financial situation is bleak due to the circumstances.
