If custody papers state a child must be turned over for visitation and the parent does not complie can the police come get the child and turn him over to the parent with visitation rights?

My guess is that this is going to depend on the police department. Some are likely to say that this is a civil matter to be taken up with the courts.

My recommendation is that the parent file a police report to document each time the child was not turned over for visitation. Some police departments allow such reports to be called in.

If this is a recurring problem, ultimately an attorney may need to be hired to file a motion to enforce the court order by the court's contempt power.
