Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

custody questions

At what age in Tx can kids choose which parent they want to live with? What if a child who is ten wants to live with the other parent and the other child wants to keep things the way they are? Do the kids have to stay together? What can you do if the other parent is disrectful to you and encourages the child to want to live with them?

Re: custody questions

Children do not have the right to choose. They are children! At age 12 they are allowed to express an opinion, but the Judge is not bound by that opinion. Most Courts will keep the children together.

If your ex was a wonderful person, you would probably still be married. The divorce didn't fix him or her. You should talk to a good family law attorney and after he or she has all the fact see if there is anything he or she thinks you can do at this time.
