hello, I have custody of my son and my mom has grandparents rights with visitation d/t my son living with her previously, My son is now 15 years old and finds the visitation schedule to be unworkable, she lives 6 hours away and there are things he would like to start doing. What would be the best way to go about changing the visitation schedule so that there is no longer any conflict between her and I. We live in texas

Read your current court order. Does it require you to attempt mediation before filing for a modification? If so, do that first.
Usually when the kids get to be teenagers they want to be with their friends and not hanging out with their parents or grandparents.
I would talk to a family law attorney in your county. Look on this website and on www.avvo.com for a family law attorney in your area.
I encourage people to mediate instead of litigating. It's usually cheaper and faster.
Also, have the 15 yr. old talk to his grandmother about the visitation. He needs to talk to her and tell her how he feels. He needs to keep in touch with her. She won't live forever. Perhaps they can SKYPE or visit via the phone more to keep in touch. Encourage him to think of creative ways to keep her involved in his life.
