custody

can my son's inlaws in vermont get custody of their grandson who lives with my son and his mother here in texas? the child is 9 yrs old and in no danger in the home. (they were married in vermont and the grandpaents knew they would be living in texas.)

You have not provided enough information to answer your question.

Your son needs to consult with an attorney to discuss all the details.

If the child has lived in Texas for more than 6 months, he is a TX resident.

Of course, if there was litigation in the past regarding this child, that old case would need to be reviewed by an attorney. A court retains jurisdiction over a child until another court takes jurisdiction.

I strongly urge your son to retain an attorney immeidately.

It is best to be prepared and usually cheaper.
