Dad who abandoned us shouldn't visit
I have a child who is eight years old. She is the product of a relationship in which the father left shortly after he found out I was pregnant. At the time he threatened me that he would sue for custody if I tried to get him for child support. Up until now I have been able to support my child on my own. Recent job changes have prompted me to need child support now. What chances do I have at getting child support/back support at this time? What are the chances he would receive visitation rights even though he has chosen not to see her for eight years?

Your chances of getting back child support and current child support are fairly high, as long as he can be located. Keep in mind that even if you don't know where he lives, there are fairly effective ways of tracking himm down. Regarding visitation, typically the Court will permit the noncustodial parent to have visitation rights, unless that parent poses some level of danger to the child. Although I do not know all the circumstances, it appears unlikely that he would receive primary custody of your daughter, since he does not have a relationship with her.
